1967 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray

Altogether a remarkable car. That menacing maw beneath the bumper, the blind bulges where one would expect headlights. The gills and not so subtle curves of the fenders and boat-tail reinforcing the sharkish impression. That "hot wheels" blue.

A car I loved when I was 12.

1966 Buick Electra 225

What a remarkable car. Those knife edge fins, that extreme length, especially in the rear overhang. All of this exaggerated by the moderate lowering. The extravagant fender skirt which melds with the door and the fender, continuing the chrome strip all the way to the rear bumper seam. The full width tailights. The sharp edge between the roof and the rear window.

All just as practical as the non-functional "ventiports", but still a work of art.

1972 Buick Centurion

This is a Centurion, not a Century. A monster car with a monster 7.5L engine -- no smaller options.

Interesting sculpting leading from the hood back through the doors to the rear fenders, providing a subtle curve describing how dynamic the shape could have been. Instead we have an overly broad C pillar crowding the windows of the back doors. At least the wheelbase is proportionate to the car -- the rear overhang is not too outrageous.

1968 Pontiac Firebird

I loved the first generation Camaro/Firebird, but always preferred the Firebird. It had a nicer front treatment though basically it is the same car (I can hear the gasps of "blasphemy!" from here). It's that distinctive Pontiac beak baked into the bumper. Perhaps I was influenced by the advertising and product placement too. The Camaro was fast, the Firebird was classy.

Tach is not an accurate copy of the original, probably not functional, but it fools the casual observer. Dislike the wheels & low profile tires -- it would be better off with something less glaringly "bling".
