1966 Ford Camper Special

Owner is a pleasant lady who asked that I obscure the plates -- first time that has happened. She's had it for more than 30 years.

Love the space age mirrors, the scalloping in the front fenders, the ridge along the side hiding the shut line of the hood. Truck looks like it's sagging in the middle, but that could just be an illusion caused by the upward jog in that ridge.

And the fuel cap just behind the driver's door -- just where you don't want it.

1961 Ford Thunderbird

This is clearly an imitation of the idealized rockets found in movies of the time. Who wouldn't want to drive a rocket sled with a gimmicky swing away steering wheel?

1985 Ford LTD LX

I had not realized that the car you see was kind of special for technical reasons until I looked it up. The blacked out grille and faded red stripe hidden in the side strip should have tipped me off. I hope it is just awaiting restoration under it's guardian motion sensor light.

What with constrained space and steel barrel, I could not get a proper profile, or a shot of the "LTD LX" badge on the trunk lid.

1968 Ford Thunderbird

Curious how the hood and trunk are the main areas for patina.

Vinyl roof has a curious sort of "alligator" pattern to it. Paint above the side ridge is much more dulled than paint below that line. No "Ford" markings as far as I can tell. Such an excellent colour.

1971 Ford Maverick 4 Door

I was severely tempted to tag this "malaise", it would completely fit but this car pre-dates the era.

Oh that yellow! Has to be original (though repainted). Note also the lock mechanism hanging out of the door, the oddly sharp ridge running the length of the side, those dark/bright hubcaps. And the profile is so like a Challenger/Barracuda, though a Maverick is as similar to those as it is to the cars that surround this example.

1962 Ford Galaxie 500

Hardtops have a peculiar appeal. That long unsupported section of roof and the empty space beneath it says "look at me and how powerful I am".

When I saw that "ornament" on the grille I thought it had just been added in an attempt to be ironic. After only a little research, it appears original.

I'm guessing this car used to be painted red or white. At least when the matte fad is over it can be restored. I love the scratched steering wheel, and the way the transmission lever and shaft are left (dangerously?) exposed next to the steering column, the way the front wheel arch rises just a bit too close to the arrow straight trim, and is embraced by the side sculpting which flows back from the outside headlight.

1931 Ford Model A Victoria

1949 (?) Chevrolet/GMC Tow Truck + 1971 Dodge Demon 340 + Ford Model A?

On a bright sunny day I found these cars while wandering down a back alley. I went around front and knocked on the door of the house. The woman who answered was slightly annoyed. Apparently I was at the wrong house, and these cars were perhaps a sore point for her. I beat a hasty retreat next door, where the owner was not home. So now I am left guessing...

The Model "A" is just barely recognizable, and does not really qualify as a car. Amusing that one of the items holding it off the ground is a coffee machine.

Love the improvised bumper on the truck, which at some point might have been blue, and the bulbous fenders & hood.

The Dodge looks like a sleek spaceship when in the company of these others. Would have loved to get a shot of the eight (!) tailight lenses and four reverse light lenses. Love the dual ridges in the hood, the nicely faded paint, the continuous shape of the side windows, the dynamic "C" pillar.
