1983 Hyundai Pony

Ah yeah a classy econobox you just don't see any more. Good to see someone is still putting it to good use. It fits right in with it's surroundings. Don't think they used the same paint on the concrete though.

1975 Honda Civic

How often do you see a restored Honda? This one has the (I think) rare trunk option instead of the hatchback. A brother of mine had an excellent red hatchback of the same year.

Love the stubby front and rear overhangs allowing the absolute maximum use of available space, while still trying to communicate sportiness with the sloping hood and rear window, bulging fenders. Front turn indicators stand free of the grille. Chromed exterior hinges on the trunk. German utility with a Japanese sensibility.

1980 Volkswagen Jetta GL Turbo Diesel

Another fine bit of German engineering. Straight lines, rounded corners, a little chrome, a little awkward with the sloping hood in profile. Fairly glows against a dark background.

1990 Honda Civic LX

This old Honda looks to be in great shape, a daily driver. Looks odd as a sedan now -- I keep feeling surprised that the trunk is there. It looks like an afterthought. At the time, this was my favourite generation of Civic. After this year, they went to the bulge-y, ugly shape. In retrospect, the rounded '91-'95 hatchbacks don't look too bad, but so many have been destroyed by guys turning them into street racers.

1983 Chevrolet Chevette Scooter

Many years ago I had the misfortune to drive something similar to this as a service loaner for way too long. It looks a lot like this car.

1982 Honda Civic Hatchback

This seems to be a project car. It has been sitting in this alley for at least two summers. There was a sibling, an older Civic "Wag-O-Van" in the garage, which seems to have departed. Love the patina, the moss, but most of all the honesty of the car. No pretensions, just honest, straightforward transportation. Many had problems with Civics of this generation, but this one seems in excellent shape.

UPDATE Mar 30/2015: Spoke with the owner and discovered I had the year wrong.
