1972 Jaguar E-Type
So many classic shapes came out of England during the 50s/60s. Ahh what a beautiful profile, despite the front end occupying a full third of the total length. The more vertical A pillar makes the windshield look more sloped than it actually is. The chrome steel wheels are so classic. And that tidy fuel door on the fender!
It wasn't raining when I started shooting, and it wasn't raining when I finished.

1972 Buick Centurion
This is a Centurion, not a Century. A monster car with a monster 7.5L engine -- no smaller options.
Interesting sculpting leading from the hood back through the doors to the rear fenders, providing a subtle curve describing how dynamic the shape could have been. Instead we have an overly broad C pillar crowding the windows of the back doors. At least the wheelbase is proportionate to the car -- the rear overhang is not too outrageous.

1972 Porsche 911T
Besides the beautiful shape, the colour is still striking even though on close inspection the paint is slightly peeling. Love those bold chrome wheels, an unconventional choice at the time. Clearly the 911 owes a great deal of it's design to the original VW Beetle. The vent under each headlight gives the impression of a moustache. The manner in which the sealed beams were mounted into the chrome housings give it a slightly surprised look.
My apologies for the cropping of the rear 3/4 shot. Photographer error -- not in computer error.

1972 Chevrolet Longbox Pickup
This is his work truck, according to the owner. Greatly preferable to the 4 door, 4WD, chromed monstrosities common to work sites in town. Yes it is kind of shiny and flashy, but I would call it more honest, simply meeting the owner's needs while providing some pleasure as well.
This is the first time I've noticed the continuous sculpting from the front headlight and fender all the way back to the rear tailight, giving the impression of a sloping rear fender.

1972 BMW 2002
Many -- including me -- thought this a dumpy little car when it was new. Hey, where's the fastback? the big engine? the swoopy design? Of course we all know how that worked out.
Love the three segment circular tailights, hood and trunk shutlines that merge with the chrome strip, simple and purposeful controls, classic grille & headlights, the over all "box leaning forward" shape. Features which were basically unchanged for more than a decade.
The badge on the grille says "Automóvil Club Argentino".

1972 Plymouth Valiant Scamp
A project car, no doubt.
Love that concave rear window, the original hubcaps, the way the rust must have developed under the vinyl roof before the vinyl was removed, the little slots in the bumpers that accept the jack, those squarish tail lights in that practical but dynamic rear bumper, which echoes the angles of the back of the roofline. As I recall there are (or were) small rear facing amber lights in the chrome pips on top of the front fenders.
