1971 Citroën GS Club

The owner of this amazing car was quite a nice guy. He was glad to stand aside for me to take these pictures, and was interested in what I was doing. He also directed me towards another great car, which is the subject of the next post.

Of note: This is not a hatchback. The trunk is hinged just below the rear window. The centre part of rear bumper is actually part of the trunk door, and swings up when it opens.

Best of 2015 (and late 2014) Part 2

And here are the rest of the best of the year, once again in order of oldest first.

In no particular order. The slider works in the normal way, but if you click / tap in the middle of the image you will be taken to the post.

1971 Ford Maverick 4 Door

I was severely tempted to tag this "malaise", it would completely fit but this car pre-dates the era.

Oh that yellow! Has to be original (though repainted). Note also the lock mechanism hanging out of the door, the oddly sharp ridge running the length of the side, those dark/bright hubcaps. And the profile is so like a Challenger/Barracuda, though a Maverick is as similar to those as it is to the cars that surround this example.

1971 Mercedes Benz 280SL

Elegant and functional. Owner says it has not been restored (aside from paint), and it shows in minor dings plus wear on the interior (which is still excellent, particularly for white). The nicely domed hood, clapping wipers and chromed air intake, the excellent colour, separate left & right rear bumpers, the narrow shut lines which do not interrupt the flow of fine lines leading from the headlights to the tail. And those wheel arches!

Oh sure there are a few excesses -- the bits of chrome everywhere, including the chrome exhaust extension, but even that has a durable look to it. A car fit for a playboy.
