1971 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Convertible
I got to speak to the owner, who says it's all original. It was a beautiful day, and he regretted not having removed the top, which is also original. When I looked up some info about the car I hadn't realized that the windsheild wipers are under vacuum powered doors.
There's something about Corvettes... they were the most desirable car when I was a kid. The early C3 represents a pinnacle of GM car design, and this example is beautiful. But... how is it that most people did not recognize the (now) obvious phallic symbol that this car literally embodies (particularly in #11). I realise that this statement will annoy some people. To me there is no ignoring it. And in later years it got so. much. worse. The car became it's own parody. To me it now looks pretty arrogant and on the nose.
Please don't misunderstand. It's both beautiful and dreadful at the same time, and I see it both ways. My dream car turned into a guilty pleaure. Well I guess we change, and so do our dreams.
